Guwahati: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi will hoist the Tricolour at 8 am at College of Veterinary Sciences ground here marking the 72nd Republic Day celebrations.
Special arrangements have been made for this year’s Republic Day celebration amid the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 tests have been made compulsory by the state government for all the march-past groups taking part in the Republic Day parade.
Troops from Assam Police, NCC Cadets and from various other paramilitary forces have been rehearshing for the Republic Day parade over the past few days at the College of Veterinary Science ground at Khanapara here.
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been tightened around the College of Veterinary Science playground to ensure law and order. Security forces have been keeping vigil in other sensitive areas of the city also.
According to the official guidelines, during the programme, movement of all heavy commercial goods carrying vehicles coming towards Guwahati through National Highways 31 and 37 will be regulated as and when necessary on the following places for the safety of the general public on the roads:
a. Khetri, Sonapur, Bymihat and Jorabat
b. Jalukbari, Amingaon and Bongara (City border)
It was further stated that vehicles with "RED passes" shall be allowed to move up to Koinadhara point either via GS Road, Khanapara Rotary and NH 37 or via Assam Rifle building (IG Prison office gate) point and park at the earmarked places.
Vehicles with BLUE & YELLOW passes shall drop invitee at museum point & move to AASC.
No other vehicle shall be allowed entry from the Research Gate point or Koinadhara point to Museum point.
