The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya has called for a Mass Andolan or ‘Gana Andolan’ against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) that has become law.
He said that the Mass Andolan would continue until the government understands the people of Assam and stop the implementation of CAB in the state.

“The strength of the public is everything and this is what we have. We have to move on with the Mass Andolan. They think we are tired of the four-day protests but the Andolan shall go on,” said the AASU Chief Adviser.
He added that the AASU would move to districts and different areas of Assam and go on with the protests. “Our students will study and rally at the same time. We will not stop until this CAB is discarded. Now, Andolans will go on and the rest of the work shall also go on,” he added.
The Chief Adviser of the AASU was speaking at the 11-hour hunger strike in Guwahati’s Chandmari. Young, as well as the elderly, had come out in opposition of the CAB in Assam. Artistes, Journalists, Writers, and people from all walks of life joined in the hunger strike and gathering called by the AASU on Friday.
Speaking on the lines of suppression of the student protesters in Guwahati, Samujjal Bhattacharya said, “I want to tell the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government that power will not prevail in Assam. I am warning you. Ministers, MPs, and everyone in the current government, power will not last for a long time. It did not last the past time. It will not last this time either. You will be overthrown.

“We will not let the Narendra Modi and Amit Shah-led BJP government impose the unconstitutional Citizenship Amendment Bill,” he added.
