ASSAM REQUIRES HIGHER BORDER SECURITY: CM

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his concern over border issues in the meeting with 15th Finance Commission today. He stated that since Assam is a state which shares international border with Bhutan and Bangladesh and inter State borders with all the North Eastern states, it requires strengthening of the borders. He stated the necessity to improve border structure along international borders in the interest of internal security.

Sonowal also placed a proposal before the Commission for an inter state border development Programme. He urged the Commission for this as such Border related issues has never been paid enough heed to.
