The Guwahati police arrested a former Indian Army personnel for allegedly giving life threats to Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his children. The accused identified as Tirtha Chaliha also made extremely derogatory remarks against the wife of the minister on social media.
The accused also posted disdainful remarks about the Minister's treatment of the COVID-19 situation in the state.

A case (No 12/20) has been lodged against the accused. “We have apprehended him and investigation is on,” a senior police official said.
The accused originally hails from Amguri in Upper Assam’s Lakhimpur district
