The Crime Branch of the Assam Police has nabbed a notorious rhino poacher from Nagaland Guest House in Guwahati on Wednesday night.
A special operation was launched based on specific input by the Crime Branch and the SIB and nabbed the notorious poacher who has been linked to several cases of rhino poaching.
The accused has been identified as Wakuf alias 'Master'.
The police revealed that he was involved in several rhino poaching incidents in Kaziranga National Park and is a resident of Dimapur in Nagaland.

It is to be mentioned that the Rhino poaching has been the primary threat in the state. Tourists across the globe visit Assam's Kaziranga National Park to see the one-horned Rhino but the poachers have brought to a situation that has brought great threat to the rhinos in the state and it has been declared as an endangered species. If not controlled, the rhinos are heading towards extinction.
Despite the deployment of the 82-member team of ‘rhino poaching squad’ in Kaziranga National Park to deal with the threat of rhino poaching in the world-renowned national park, the poaching activities has not stopped.
