The Darrang Police arrested four rhino poachers, including two from Nagaland, on Sunday.
The arrests were made acting on intelligence inputs about their presence in Kachomari Sonari village under Dalgaon police station in Darrang district. The police received inputs that the poachers would kill rhinos at the Orang Tiger Reserve Forest.
The accused were later identified as Nur Hussain alias Lengra (50), son of late Bahajuddin of Kachomari Sonari village, Nur’s brother Abul Hussain (45), Daniel Yepthomi (28), son of Suman, a village chief of Burma Camp area of Dimapur in Nagaland and Alobo Kipa (23), son of late Goshito of Zunheboto in Nagaland.
The police recovered two .303 rifles, one 9 mm carbine, one silencer and four live cartridges of .303 rifle from the accused.
