Assam Rifles Apprehends NSCN (KN) Cadre in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 7, 2019:

In a recent crackdown against insurgents, a cadre of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Kitovi-Neopak) was nabbed by the Assam Rifles in Dimapur city in Nagaland on August 4.

Based on inputs about presence of an armed cadre in the Super Market area of  Dimapur city, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation along with police on 4 August and apprehended an NSCN (KN) in the area.

The cadre has been identified as Self-Styled Lt Kennedy, aged 34. A 9 mm Pistol with magazine and three live rounds was also recovered from the cadre. The apprehendee along with recoveries was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, for further investigation.

In another crackdown against NSCN insurgents in Arunachal's Changlang, 2 cadres belonging to the outfit had arrested so far and one of their major camps in the area had been busted.

Earlier, in yet another blow to militancy in the Northeast, one senior NSCN (R) insurgent was apprehended from 9 Mile, Jagun, Tinsukia district of Assam on 2 Aug, 2019 during a joint operation conducted by Indian Army and Assam Police.
