GUWAHATI: A scam worth over Rs 30 lakhs was busted yesterday in a joint operation by Nagaon and Guwahati police at the house of one Mridupawan Neog.
Police seized .32 pistol, 20 live rounds, gold jewellery worth lakhs, a large quantity of foreign liquor, many fake documents and stickers of various government departments, a logo of a media house and a Fortuner from his residence.
However, Neog is absconded but his bodyguard Rakesh Dixit and driver Bahin Boro were arrested by police in connection with the same scam.

As per information, a case was filed against Neog by one named Imran Hussain of Nagaon in a car dealing scam where Neog has allegedly taken money from Hussain, and in the same regard, police launched a search operation against Neog.
Based on inputs, it was found that Neog had dinner in a Sonapur Dhaba at around 11 pm on Friday night. Neog claimed he was a government official and duped people accordingly. Neog fled the scene after learning he was being hunted down.
Notably, Neog was also involved in a drug-related case in 2009 and a case was registered against him in this regard.
