Assam school running with just 6 students; teacher comes only to mark attendance

NALBARI: At a time when the government is introducing various development projects designed to improve education quality and infrastructure of schools,a primary school in Assam's Nalbari district does not even need to open more than one classroom because it has been operating with just six students, of whom only one or two attend daily.
At present, the 230 no Shimalia Boy's Primary School has just two teachers. Dipen Talukder is the head teacher and Deepak Dutta is the assistant teacher .
The school has a total of 5 classrooms.
There has been allegations against the assistant teacher that Deepak Dutta that he arrived school in the morning and then disappeared after marking his attendance.

When InsideNE visited the school today to get information, only the head teacher and one student were present, however, Deepak Dutta was not around.
When asked where Dutta goes every day after registering his presence in the register book, Dipen Talukder stated he has no idea.
The village has around 120 households, however despite the high fees, the children from those households go other private or government schools.
According to sources, the school has had a low student enrolment rate for the past 8-10 years.
