CACHAR: The district administration of Cachar in Assam's Barak Valley has decided to enforce prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in view of the ensuing polls. The district will head to the booths on April 1, the second phase of polling.

There are altogether 7 constituencies in Cachar: Silchar, Sonai, Dholai, Udharbandh, Lakhipur, Borkhola and Katigorah.

"It's worth mentioning here that miscreants might indulge in illegal activities like extortion of money, the kidnapping of persons, etc in the district for which such miscreants may use vehicles, the windows of which are covered by various means so as to enable them to escape detection or identification while in process of the commission of such illegal activities," stated an official release, adding that unless the movements of such miscreants are curbed down, there is a likelihood of danger to human life and safety and breach of public tranquility.
