Assam: Seminar on "Indian Culture and Scientific Temperament" to be Held in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, January 25, 2020:

The Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar (CITK) has announced to host a seminar on “Reconfiguring Indian Culture and Scientific Temperament in 21st Century” on January 28 and 29.

The seminar will be organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). Convener of the “Reconfiguring Indian Culture and Scientific Temperament in 21st Century”, Dr. Tanushree Nayak said that resource persons from various disciplines would participate in the programme. As many as 35 paper presentations have been queued to educate the attendees on issues of culture, literature, language, film studies and science and technology.

Deputy Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, Kampa Borgoyary will be attending the seminar as the Chief Guest. Vice-Chancellor, Bodoland University, Professor Laishram Ladu Singh will be the Guest of Honour and Professor Prakash Chandra Pattanaik , Department of M.I.L. and Literary Studies, University of Delhi will be the Key-note Speaker.

Director, CIT, Professor Debkumar Chakrabarti and Registrar, CIT, Chaitali Brahma will also join the programme. Among the Plenary Speakers, who will deliver their lectures on the first day are Prof. Ashok Kumar Patnaik, Department of History, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar on the topic, “The growth of Astronomy in Odisha and the contribution of Samanta Chandrasekhar."

Prof. Ghanashyam Bez, Department of Chemistry, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong on “Make Research a Culture: The way forward for education and research in India” and Prof. Dwijen Sharma, Department of English, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura campus on “Does Indian culture resist scientific temperament?: A reading of select Indian novels in English”.

On January 29, apart from paper presentation, Prof. Bhagabat Nayak, Department of English, Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh, will deliver a plenary talk on “Rationalizing Scientific Temper in India’s Socio-Cultural Perspective”.
