Guwahati, February 15, 2020:

Assamese music icon Manas Robin who was staging a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Guwahati on February 15 to grab the attention of the Bollywood community, has been detained at the Azara Police station.

Robin, who was staging a protest at the LGBI airport grounds on the outskirts of Guwahati city, was reportedly seeking an audience with Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar and evergreen diva Madhuri Dixit.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Robin said, "We had gone to Borjhar airport to greet the Bollywood stars. It is well and good that Assam tourism is trying to promote itself through the Bollywood stars. However, we also wanted them to know that the people of Assam want to live with dignity, and hence, we oppose the CAA. I personally wanted to convey a message to Madhuri Dixit through my placard.."

Robin also informed us that the intention was to ensure that Bollywood takes back the message with them. "We thought it improper to protest before the award show lest they should become demoralized. But, when we went to the airport to convey our message, we were detained."
