Guwahati, February 14, 2019:

A confirmed list of 42 CRPF jawans martyred at the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir has been released and much to the dismay of ‘aai’ Assam, the name of one of her sons is among them.

Maneswar Basumatary, who hails from Assam’s Baksa district has been identified among the deceased in the deadliest attack in over three decades that unleashed terror not only in Jammu & Kashmir (where it happened) but also in all corners of the nation.

A sense of disbelief has taken over the nation as it tries to make sense of the magnitude of the tragedy that has befallen it after a suicide bomber belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit rammed an explosive-laden SUV into a military convoy bus at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir. The personnel who were attacked belong to the 92, 17 and 54 Battalions of the CRPF.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as well as India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi have come out in condemnation of the “despicable” attacks.
