Assam son martyred in gunfight with Naxalites in Jharkhand

Guwahati, April 15, 2019:

Assam's Biswajit Chauhan, belonging to the 7th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been martyred in a gun battle with Naxals in Jharkhand's Giridih district, officials have said. Chauhan was a resident of Borpukhuri in Assam's Udalguri district. Three Naxals were also killed during the gunfight.

Officials have said the encounter between the two sides took place around 6 am in the forests of Belbha Ghat area of the district when troops of the 7th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were conducting a routine check.

The location where the encounter took place is about 185 kms from Jharkhand capital Ranchi.

Officials have said that three bodies of Maoists along with an AK-47 Rifle, three bullet magazines, and four pipe bombs have been recovered from the encounter site till now.
