ASSAM: SPO JAWANS RAISED PROTEST IN THE SARAIGHAT BRIDGE TODAY

The Special Police Officer (SPO) staged the protest for regularisation of jobs.

There was an outrage by the Jawans of SPO over the Saraighat bridge today. The Jawans demanded for regularisation of their jobs. The SPO Jawans who were appointed in the year 2008 demanded that they should be permanently appointed in the Assam Industrial Security Force. They even threatened to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge into the river if their demands are not carried out at the earliest

The protest led to creating traffic congestion over the bridge. The Jawans refused to vacate the place even after repeated warnings from the administration.

However according to sources,the Police brought the raging Jawans under control.
