Guwahati, November 14, 2018:

Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) celebrated the Children’s day 2018 on 14th November amidst the children of the Basistha Vidyapeeth M E School.

On the occasion of the Children’s Day, the team of the Assam SCPCR visited the Basistha Vidyapeeth M E School and spent the day with the student of the school. A painting competition was organised on this occasion on the theme Swachha Bharat.

Member of the Commission, Indrani Tahbildar, explained to the children about the provisions of the RTE Act, 2009 and the ban on Corporal Punishment. She also stressed on the responsibilities of every individual towards the community, society and the nation so that everyone enjoys their rights to the fullest.

Member of the Commission, Dr. Nani Gopal Goswami introduced everyone to the children and explained about the Commission and it’s mandated and functions to protect and promote the rights of the children.

Member of the Commission, Rupa Hazarika, focused on the evil practices of child marriage, child sexual abuse etc. and explained to the children about the ill effects of early marriage and early pregnancy.
