Assam: Tea tribe youth dies by suicide in COVID Care Centre

TEZPUR: In a shocking incident, a COVID-19 positive patient admitted to a COVID Care Centre in Assam's Sonitpur district reportedly ended his life today sending shockwaves across the area.

According to reports, the youth, identified as Dipak Kumar, took his own life at a COVID Care Centre in Sonabeel in Solagaon of Tezpur. He was a resident of the Harchurah tea estate in the same district.

According to reports, Kumar was admitted to the COVID Care Centre on July 6 last. Meanwhile, locals of the area are demanding the authorities to reveal the circumstances of his death.

Assam today reported 2,493 more cases of the COVID-19, revealed chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 247 of these cases were reported from Kamrup (M) where cases are again on the rise.
