Assam: Tirap Autonomous District Council issues statement on Buddhist monk attack

Tirap Autonomous District Council Demand Committee(TADCDC) Spokesperson Pallabh Shyam Wailung, Nakul Singpho, Saikhen Chakhap, Tehan Hakun, Margherita Buddha Vihar Chief Monk Gyanawada Bhikkhu, Margherita Regional Student Union President Chintu Gogoi, General Secretary Rupam Baruah and other Buddhist Monk gave a press meet at Margherita Buddha Vihar guest hall regarding the attack on Junior Monk of Margherita Buddha Vihar on 24 July by Biki Baruah.

Pallabh Shyam Wailung said that according to Section 3 of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocity Act 1989) Amendment Act 2018 a person who is accused of attacking a Buddhist Monk should be arrested immediately but now 8 Days have passed Biki Baruah has not been arrested by Margherita Police where already a FIR has been lodged at Margherita Police station. Gyanawada Bhikkhu Head Monk of Margherita Buddha Vihar said that due to some unscrupulous persons who are involved to maligned the image of Margherita Buddha Vihar which the accused Biki Baruah has committed the crime by intentionally attacked Indasara Bhikkhu by his motorcycle on 24 July evening hours.

Raju Deori Noted Tribal Social Activist and President of Kundiyo Mission Society said that Buddhist Religion is one of the Peace Religion of the  World where Biki Baruah himself belongs to Buddhist Religion than how can he do this heinous crime which I demand to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who is also the Home Minister of  Assam to immediately arrest Biki Baruah. This Correspondent when Contacted Biki Baruah he refuted all the charge and told that it is a conspiracy to maligned his image in front of all Buddhist Community people of Margherita,Tinsukia District and Assam.
