Assam: Top PDCK rebels believed to be injured in gunfight with police

21 July 2018:

Some top leaders of insurgent group People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) were reportedly injured in an encounter with the Karbi Anglong police on Saturday.

According to official sources, the gunfight took place at 6:20 am at Bokaram Tokbi Gaon under Dolamara police station. After the exchange of fire, the militants fled the site.

The sources said the top PDCK rebels were taking shelter at the site of encounter. They said after the gun-battle ceased, the area was searched and one HK 33 rifle, 70 live bullets, two HK 33 rifle magazines, two mobile phones, a knife, a torch and a bag were found. When reports last came in, the police had launched a search operation to nab the fleeing rebels.

The PDCK was formed in October 2016 to secure the sovereignty of the Karbis.
