Assam Transport department has urged all the vehicle owners to update their vehicular taxes on or before March 31, 2020, in order to avoid hefty fines that might go up to Rs 10000 per document.
It has initiated the drive to root out Motor Vehicles violation in Kamrup Rural areas to avoid vehicle seizing until the owner furnishes valid documents.
DTO Gautam Das said, “The initiative has been taken for the safety of the people. Not just people, some documents such as the insurance and pollution control certification ensure the safety of the vehicle as well.”
Several vehicles without proper papers and fitness were found plying on the roads during the drive and at least 40 of them were seized for violating basic traffic rules.
