GUWAHATI: Last remaining Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) cadres from Assam's Karbi Anglong district have surrendered before Assam Police on Friday.
As many as 27 militants surrendered and handed over 17 weapons including 4 assault rifles to DIG and Superintendent of Police in Karbi Anglong. 6 country made weapons were included in the list.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has termed it as a major achievement towards permanent peace in Assam.
Taking to Twitter he said, "Under the guidance of Adarniya PM Shri ">@narendramodi ji & HM Shri ">@AmitShah ji, we've had a major achievement towards permanent peace in Assam. Last remaining cadres of UPRF/KNLF(KUKI) surrendered & handed over 17 weapons including 4 assault rifles to DIG & SP, Karbi Anglong."
