Two alleged middlemen, involved in the multi-crore rupees cash-for-jobs scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), were arrested by the Dibrugarh police on Sunday night.

One of the accused persons, Surajit Choudhury, is the husband of arrested ACS officer Pallavi Sarma Choudhury. He is a real estate builder and there are allegations that he had not handed over flats to 130 families in Azara on the outskirts of Guwahati.

The other alleged middleman, arrested by the police, was Sailen Sarma Barua. He is the vice president of BJP’s Darrang district unit and secretary of Mangaldoi Lawyers’ Association. He underwent a medical test on Monday.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kabita Das, who was arrested at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district on Sunday, was brought to Guwahati on Monday. According to reports, she was making an attempt to leave the country. There are allegations that the chief executive of Dibrugarh District Council, Diganta Saikia, was trying to shield Kabita.
