DHUBRI: West Bengal MP and Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik, attended as a chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of durga puja of the traditional Kalibari in Dhubri.
Nishith Pramanik, participated in a clothes distribution programme which was held at Kalibari temple premises. A total of 130 poor women and children from Dhubri were given new clothes on the occasion of durga puja.
The temple was established in 1928 of the post-independence era, has a long glorious history, in collaboration with then Commissioner of Goalpara district and British ruler Neini Sahab.
Freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose attended a public meeting which was held at Kalibari in Dhubri in 1938.
It may be recalled that the Durga Puja of Kalibari, turned 94 years and the temple is also closely associated with various social activities.
