The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has appealed to the Central government to facilitate the return of migrant workers hailing from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and other parts of Assam stranded in various parts of India due to nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 by arranging special trains. Speaking to the media persons, the UPPL president Pramod Boro informed that thousands of people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Assam are stranded in different parts of the country amid the lockdown enforced to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“Thousands of people from Assam are stranded in different parts of the country due to the lockdown. They have been continuously approaching us to bring back them. Since it is the inter-state matter, the intervention of the government is the only solution,” Boro said.
