Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Monday informed that the state has successfully administered COVID vaccine doses to more than 3 lakh people in the state.

GUWAHATI: Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Monday informed that the state has successfully administered COVID vaccine doses to more than 3 lakh people in the state.

Taking to twitter, the health Minister said, "Assam vaccinated more than 3 lakh persons today. I Congratulate Hon’ble PM Modi ji @PMOIndia and HCM @himantabiswa for their visionary leadership. My gratitude to Hon’ble Guardian Ministers, all Officers, Vaccinators, Police, District Admin. and others, who made it successful."

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier announced the launch of an enhanced COVID-19 vaccination drive starting from June 21.

He had specifically directed the district administration to strive to achieve the target of 3 lakh vaccinations every day, starting from June 21 to June 30, in the state.

All guardian ministers & secretaries have also been directed to camp at their respective districts for the next seven days to ensure maximum vaccination, added Sarma.

The Chief Minister also informed that there will be no separate category based on age for vaccination.   Central Govt will provide COVID19 vaccines to 18+ people free of cost.

Talking about the timings of vaccination, the Chief Minister said that vaccination will continue from 8 am to 8 pm, in two shifts in urban areas while in rural areas it will be from 8 am to 1 pm.
