Goreshwar, June 12, 2019:

Anomalies have been alleged in road construction at Mohoripara in Goreswar under Baksa district of Assam.

The Assam villagers pointed an accusing finger at the contractor Mr. Gobin Chandra Boro for the anomalies in the construction of 2 km long connecting road from Mohoripara to Ramgaon.

They demanded immediate construction of the road. The villagers and several organisations even threatened to launch stir if their demand is not fulfilled.

According to villagers contractor Gobin Chandra Boro was allotted with the work on May 8, 2015. But the said contractor has allegedly failed to construct the 2 km road.

They alleged that the work started in 2015 with the fund allotted to the contractor. But the said contractor left the construction work incomplete and now the villagers are facing plethora of problems.

The villagers sounding strong allegation of huge anomalies along the road construction said that the road was completed by half done. They alleged that very poor quality of construction materials was used in the construction work.

Villagers even suspect that the contractor has the ‘blessings’ of a section of PWD officials as he has allegedly ‘managed’ them since even after four years of getting the work allotment, the contractor has failed to finish the work.

When contacted, the contractor who is overseeing the progress of the construction, Gobin Chandra Boro, however, rubbished all the allegations levelled against him.

“You can physically verify the road that I have constructed and I assure you we have taken all steps to ensure that the roads are being built according to the prevailing standards...” he told Inside Northeast.
