All Assam Students' Union (AASU) leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Saturday, issuing a warning to the Central Government, stated that despite the Centre's efforts to impose foreigners, the people will never accept it.
The AASU leader, at an anti-CAA protest in Morigaon town in Assam, stated that despite the Central Government's step-brotherly attitude towards the people of Assam, the people have stood strong. "After independence, in 1947, the Government wanted to club Assam with East Pakistan", Lurin said, adding: "But the people of Assam wanted freedom -- they told Delhi that they would not be slaves to foreigners. They could not make us slaves."

Lurin added that continuing the trend of After the attack of China, Delhi bid adieu to the people of Assam from their hearts and minds
"In the 1970's, our economic rights and language were snatched away from us", Lurin rued.
Recalling the victory of the Assamese over the invading Mughals, Lurin stated, "Assamese people will never bow their heads in front of a foreign power, that is why 855 people laid down their lives during the Assam Agitation."
Lurin also said that India woke up to the dangers posed by the 'CAA' only after the protests began in Assam. "After the law was passed, India was sleeping, but the voices from Assam woke up the sleeping people. They realized -- this Bill seeks to divide the people, to divide religions", Lurin opined.
Delhi laughed at Assam as a land of jungles, but Delhi should remember that lions live in jungles, Lurin said.
Lurin added that the people are concerned that a foreign culture overthrow our culture. "This is why the people have come out. Which is why we have told Delhi that we do not need their permission to preserve their culture and language", he added.
Condemning the Government for forcefully putting an end to protests, Lurin stated, "Five youths were martyred within an hour, and here, you talk about being irked by smoke of burning tyres."
