Eight youths of Hailakandi district stuck in Goa have sought the intervention of the district administration to bring them back to their home in Assam. The youths from Hailakandi's Sudarshanpur Part II village working in a hotel are stranded in North Goa's Simvaddo village, Anjuna Survey No.11.
"We have run out of money. Whatever little savings we've had have been spent. Now the landowner has asked us to vacate the rooms, as we could not clear the house rent for the last two months," he said.

Finding no other option, Barbhuiya and his colleagues have sought the help of the government and the district administration during their hour of distress. "We have sought the help of the Government of Assam and the Hailakandi district administration to pull us out of the quagmire we are in," said a hapless Barbhuiya. On getting the information from a local reporter, District Information and Public Relations Officer, Sabir Nishat apprised Deputy Commissioner, MN Dahal about their abject condition.
The Deputy Commissioner assured that the administration would arrange to extend financial assistance of Rs.2,000 each under the Assam CARES initiative.
