In yet another incident of man-elephant conflict in Assam, one youth was trampled to death by a wild jumbo on Saturday.
The incident has taken place at Badlapara tea estate under Dimakuchi police station in Udalguri district.
It has been learnt that wild elephants attacked 25-year old Bhima Topno, a tea garden worker, while he was returning from Tankibasti area.
Wild jumbos have created an atmosphere of terror in Dimakuchi, Barangajuli, Badlapara, Nalapara, Tankibasti, Kalikhola, Bamunjuli, Rajagarh areas in Udalguri district of Assam.
In February this year, Assam government informed the state Assembly that the number of human deaths caused by the 'man-elephant conflict' had increased from 61 in 2010 to 92 in 2018.
Most of these casualties have been reported from the districts of Sonitpur, Udalguri, Baksa, Golaghat, Nagaon, Goalpara and Karbi Anglong.
