Guwahati, August 23, 2019:

In yet another controversial statement, Hojai MLA of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiladitya Dev made serious allegations on the publication of National Register of Citizens (NRC) on Friday.

The MLA commented that the Assamese community will be destroyed by the publication of NRC. According to Dev, there are a lot of discrepancies in the NRC.

The Hojai MLA further alleged that the authorities were going to publish the NRC that included the name of Bangladeshi Muslims. “The publication of NRC with such discrepancies has insulted the martyrs who were a part of the Assam Movement,” he said.

Shiladiya Dev also took a jibe at the All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU).

It is to be mentioned that earlier on August 19, Dev stated, “It is rather unfortunate that the NRC has become a ‘one-man show’ because of the Congress’ apathy towards the NRC.”

Taking a dig at the NEC Coordinator, Prateek Hajela, the MLA also said that he would take the initiative to ensure that Bangladeshis are booted out after the ‘crisis period’ during the months of September and October.
