Assam's Don Bosco University features in world rankings by TIMES

GUWAHATI: Assam Don Bosco University has been ranked in the category 301-400, with a score ranging from 70.9 to 66.3, in the recently released impact rankings by the TIMES Higher Education (THE) which ranked 1,115 higher education institutions from 94 countries/regions.

The rating criteria are based on the 17 UN sustainable development goals.

To be ranked, a university must apply the per forma report for SDG 17 as well as at least three additional SDGs.

The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom earned the highest overall ranking score of 98.8.

From India, 49 higher education institutions submitted for the world impact ranking, with Don Bosco University ranking highest among other institutions from Northeast India and ranking sixth in India with the University of Calcutta.

Besides this, two other HEIs from Northeast India were included in this global ranking: Mizoram University, which was ranked 601-800, and NIT Silchar, which was ranked 801-1000.

Fr. Stephen Mavely, the university's founding vice-chancellor, commented on the TIMES ranking, saying: "Don Bosco University's highest score is under UN SDG 15, 'Life on Land,' with a score of 72.9, which is #1 in India and #53 in the world. It exemplifies the university's eco-friendly green campus, which it is really proud of.”

The TIMES Higher Education Impact rankings are the only global success tables that evaluate universities in relation to the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The rating employs precisely tailored metrics to offer a thorough and balanced comparison across four diverse areas: Science, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.
