Guwahati, February 17, 2019:

Assam’s martyred son, Maneswar Basumatary, was cremated with full state honours in his native village of Kolbari in Assam’s Baksa district. The last rites of the 98th CRPF battalion jawan were performed at around 9:05 pm.

After his mortal remains reached the village, thousands of locals turned up in huge numbers to pay their last respects to the fallen hero, and at the same time, tried to console the family members of the martyr. The martyr’s son set fire to his mortal remains.

Ministers Pramila Rani Brahma and Chandra Mohan Patowary were also present during the last rites. After the mortal remains of the martyr were brought by a special Airforce carrier to Guwahati, they were taken to his native village in Tamulpur in a helicopter.
