Assam's next chief minister to be declared soon, meeting underway

GUWAHATI: Assam's next chief minister will be declared soon. An important meeting in this regard is underway at the residence of Union home minister Amit Shah.

According to sources, national president J.P. Nadda and national general secretary B.L. Santosh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are attending the meeting to make the much-anticipated decision on who will be Assam's next chief minister.

Moreover, putting an end to all the speculation over the selection of a new chief minister of the state, the BJP’s parliamentary board has reportedly finalized BJP strongman Himanta Biswa Sarma as the next chief minister.

However, an official announcement in this regard is awaited. It is expected to come very soon.

Days after the BJP and its allies reclaimed power for the second time, speculations about who would be the state's next chief minister circulated in the state.
