BAKSA: In the past 24 hours, the Baksa district of Assam reported 99 fresh cases of COVID-19 infection.

Of the total fresh cases, Tarungaon village under Nagrijuli Development Block of the district stands with the highest number of cases with 38.

According to the Tamulpur health department, the rate of COVID infection in Tarungaon village on the Bhutan border under the Nagrijuli Development Block was 25.33 percent on Saturday.

Out of 150 tests conducted in the village during the period, 38 people were found positive for COVID-19.

Infected people include children, women, and the elderly.

The state health department has already declared a number of red zones in various parts of the state, including Nagrijuli in Tamulpur sub-division, Naokata, and others.

Meanwhile, despite the fact that the virus is spreading throughout the district, many have been witnessed breaking the COVID rule and leaving without masks.

It has been said that cases of infection are on rising in the area due to the violation of the COVID rule.

The situation could be dire if the police administration does not take strict action.

Assam during the period reported 2,391 news cases of the virus pushing the tally to 5,04,723.

The state also reported 24 new fatalities due to the infection during the period.

The state currently has 21,202 active cases and 5,04,723 people have recovered from the infection so far.
