Ballot papers with votes cast recovered from a student

Biswanath, December 8:

In a shocking incident, 30 ballot papers, with votes cast to Congress and BJP candidates and undersigned by assigned the polling official, were recovered from a student two days since the holding of first-phase panchayat election.

The incident purportedly occurred in the Potlibari Primary School which was the polling station for No 2 Potlibari village of Upper Assam’s Biswanath district.

Prior to this, some locals had noticed anomalies during the voting process and lodged a complaint of rigging with election officials.

The locals have demanded re-polling in the polling station.
