GUWAHATI: Banks in Guwahati shall remain closed on March 15 and 16 as several bank unions and thousands of workers have called for a two-day bank strike across India on the aforementioned days.
The strike is in response to the central government's plan to privatise two public sector banks.
Bank employees in Guwahati are also joining the two-day bank strike by holding a protest in front of the circle offices in the city.
Customers are unlikely to be able to make any banking transactions during the two-day strike.

Customers can still make online transactions or deposit money at bank ATMs when banks are closed to the public.
Customers who use mobile and internet banking can make transactions even if banks are closed due to a strike or holidays.
Apart from the two-day strike, banks will remain closed on March 13 which is the second Saturday of the month, and March 14 that is Sunday. Thus banks will remain closed for 4 days in a row.
