The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the name of the four candidates for the ensuing bye-polls in four Assembly constituencies in Assam.
The saffron party has fielded Bijay Malakar in Ratabari SC constituency, Tawfiqur Rahman in Jania constituency, Rajen Borthakur in Rangapara constituency, and Nabanita Handique from Sonari constituency.
Meanwhile, Congress Party also announced its four candidates- Keshab Prasad Rajak from Ratanbari SC constituency, Shamsul Hoque from Jania constituency, Kartik Kurmi from Rangapara constituency and Sushil Suri from Sonari constituency.
Meanwhile, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has also announced its candidate on Saturday. AIUDF will field MLA Rafiqul Islam from Jania constituency. The party will contest from only one constituency out of the four constituencies.

It may be mentioned that the ensuing bye- polls in Assam will see a major fight between BJP and Congress. Whereas, in Jania, the fight will be more interesting as Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Tawfiqur Rahman and AIUDF candidate Rafiqul Islam seems to have gained more popularity.
