Firebrand Mariani legislator Rupjyoti Kurmi on Monday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government of not being serious in implementing the clause 6 of the Assam Accord. Taking a dig on the saffron party, the congress legislator said that it will become clear that the BJP led government is not at all serious on implementing the clause 6 of the Assam Accord on the lines of recommendation made by the High level committee.
Speaking in the autumn session of the four day Assam assembly, Kurmi regretted that the report of the high level committee led by Retd. Justice BK Sharma was accepted by the chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal whereas it should have been done by Union Home minister Amit Shah. Kurmi also accused the BJP of indulging in dirty politics pertaining to the implementation of the clause 6 of the Assam Accord.
Kurmi also accused the BJP of doing politics in establishing in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Assam. He said that the BJP had assured the people of Assam to establish the AIIMS at Raha before the 2016 Assam assembly elections but later State Health & Family Welfare minister established it at Changsari as it is his home constituency. Kurmi also claimed that the BJP has betrayed the widow of Mintoo Deori by not giving her employment as had been assured by them after he laid his life.
