GUWAHATI: The BJP today released a second list of three candidates for the second phase of Assam assembly elections to be held on April 1.
The list comprises the names of Milan Das, nominated for Hailakandi constituency, former Asam Sahitya Sabha president Paramanda Rajbongshi for Sipajhar constituency and Ramkrishna Ghosh for Hojai.
As soon as the list was released, Hojai’s sitting MLA Shiladitya Dev took to social media to say: “Finally I am kicked out from BJP”.

Sensing a similar fate, senior BJP worker Dev had late last year threatened to quit the party citing his differences with a section of RSS leaders in the state. He, however, stayed back later on stating that he had certain commitments to his electors left to be fulfilled.
Rajbongshi had recently quit the Asom Gana Parishad to join the BJP.
With the three, the BJP’s number of candidates increased to 73.
The BJP’s central election committee also named two candidates for the West Bengal election. Hiranmoy Chattopadhaya has been nominated from Kharagpur Sadar and Supriti Chatterji for Barjora constituency.
