GUWAHATI: Although the Sarbananda Sonowal-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will fall short of capturing 100 Constituencies in Assam, the saffron party is set to ascend to power once again in Assam, if a recently conducted ABP survey is to be believed.
The ABP News C-Voter Opinion Poll 2021 says that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will once again sweep to power, winning 73-81 Seats in the Assembly, with 42% of the voteshare.
According to the survey conducted by the right-leading media organization, the rival Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will get 35% of the votes and place second in the elections, with 36-44.
The Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), which seems to be inching towards forging an alliance with the Congress, will win 4-5 Seats, said the ABP News C-Voter Opinion Poll 2021.
The ABP survey concluded that the NDA and UPA are increasing their vote share at the cost of AIUDF and others.
The survey further predicted that the AIUDF has lost a significant vote share in favor of Congress, thus putting doubt over the utility of an alliance with the same.

While AIUDF supremo Badruddin Ajmal has been pushing for an alliance with the Grand Old Party, the Congress leadership has gotten cold feet after opposition to the alliance in parts of Upper Assam. While party leaders like Ripun Bora had once called forth the AIUDF to forge an alliance, they are now saying that "all depends on the central leadership."
The survey further gathered that although "the demise of Tarun Gogoi has generated some sympathy for Congress but at the same time crystallized the polarization in state polity."
"The state leadership of Assam BJP and smaller allies have firmly cast away NRC/CAA related controversies," the survey further surmised. The CAA, it needs mention here,
