GUWAHATI: All India Congress Committee general secretary and party in-charge of Assam Jitendra Singh Alwar today alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party's two top leaders in the state are running two different "syndicates".

"The BJP runs Assam government on two remotes, one remote is on the chief minister and another is on the super chief minister. The party leaders press the buttons from New Delhi and both act accordingly," Singh said.

"These two leaders also run two different syndicates and have imposed a mafia tax upon the people of Assam apart from GST," he added.

Singh further expressed, "Both of them are doing the job of selling out the culture and resources of Assam. They did this with the two paper mills of Assam and soon, Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport will also meet the same fate and will be an Adani airport too."

Reacting to these allegations, Assam state BJP spokesperson Pabitra Margherita said, "These all are just unfounded allegations, especially when it's coming from Congress. If you let someone hire a marriage hall for a day, that doesn't mean that the marriage hall will be his property forever."

Asked by InsideNE further regarding the same, Margherita added that the BJP does not consider the Congress as a major challenge and "the real fight is with the AIUDF."

"There is nothing much to talk about Congress. Our main competitor is AIUDF. Congress might get one or two seats due to them," he added.

Today, the Assam Congress released a charge sheet with a total of 84 allegations against the BJP led government. In the event, the Congress party also promised to revive the two paper mills at Jagiroad and Cachar which got shut down during the BJP-led government's tenure.
