GUWAHATI: Followed by the victory of BJP and its allies in the 5 constituencies for by poll elections in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the allies including UPPL, AGP have played a major role in BJP's win.
Addressing the media after the announcement of results, the Chief Minister said that people are with growth, Modi and good works of government.
Sarma further stated that the he is hopeful that Mitrajut will work together and fulfull all the promises and agendas.
"People didn't vote us to for a break nor do we want to take break", said the Chief Minister.
"We plan to work towards the welfare of the people at a fast pace by keeping your feet at the ground and aiming to touch the sky", he added.
Speaking further he said that in the last six months the saffron fold has taken up several crucial initiatives.
The people of Thowra and Mariani proved that even if Congress and Raijor Dol would have joined hands, it wouldn't have defeated BJP.
After a tense battle for 5 seats in Assam, BJP and its ally UPPL won all five seats in the Assam By polls. BJP’s Sushanta Borgohain won the Thowra assembly seat by a margin of 30,561 votes.
UPPL candidate Jiron Basumatary and Jolen Daimary won the Gossaigaon and Tamulpur seats by a margin of of 28,252 and over 50,000 votes respectively.
BJP candidate Phanidhar Talukdar won the Bhabanipur seat by a margin of 25,641 votes.
BJP’s Rupjyoti Kurmi won the Mariani seat by a margin of 40,104 votes.
