Guwahati, 22 January 2019:

Protestors against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 continue to show black flags at senior BJP leaders in Assam as the stir has continued to intensify following these leaders failing to address the issue and adamantly pushing to implement the Bill.

On Tueasday, protestors waved black flags at Assam health minister Himanata Biswa Sarma’s convoy, who along with Assam BJP President Ranjit Das were present in Brapeta district’s Pathsala to felicitate the victorious BJP candidates in the recently concluded Panchayat Elections.

On Monday, the All Assam Students Union (AASU), Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad  (AJYCP)  activists  showed black flags at Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Baihata Chariali while protesting  against the Bill.

The Assam minister also had to face slogans against him and the Bill from the protester.

Central leader of AJYCP Bijan Bayan and Pathsala Regional Students Union secretary Saurabh Sharma were reportedly arrested by police along with 18 other protestors.

Similarly, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have also faced similar agitations against him and as recently as yesterday, Students Federation of India (SFI) and KMSS  activists  waved black at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal convoy at Chirang district's Bijni.
