Guwahati, September 6
Students of the Cotton University staged a protest outside the office of Kamrup (metro) Deputy Commissioner on Thursday in connection with Wednesday’s boat tragedy in Guwahati in which two of its students -- Ankita Baruah and Dimpi Bora – had lost their lives.
The protestors demanded proper bus services connecting both the banks of the Brahmaputra. In a memorandum submitted to the DC, they sought a proper investigation against the Inland Water Transport. They also demanded high-tech ferry services.
Earlier in the day, the students had blocked the roads in Panbazar area which caused massive traffic snarls.
