GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa has Sarma asked to eliminate all land 'middlemen' from the system so that the common public can get their land-related works done hassle-free without having to visit Circle Offices.
The Chief Minister made this admission on the second-day proceedings of the two-day State Level Conference of ADCs (Revenue), Circle Officers, and Circle Officers at Srimanta Sarkardev Kalakshetra today.
The event was organised by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
CM Sarma further asserted that the state government will implement 'Mission Basundhara' in the state on October 2, 2021.
The Mission was established to make the operation of Circle Offices "clean and transparent."

"If middlemen are allowed in Circle Officers' offices, strict action will be taken against them," he added.
The Chief Minister stated that all support would be provided to the Circle Officers in order for 'Mission Basundhara' to be implemented on time.
The common people will be provided with 10 services under the scheme such as updating land records online, land mutation, conversion, and so on.
The mission's primary goal is to conduct surveys of non-cadastral villages with the goal of digitising all land records in the state by December 2023.
He stated that the mission would expedite the process of converting nearly 4 lakh 'Ek Sonia' lands into 'Myadi Patta' lands.
People will be able to apply online for land mutations, land record updates, and other services, as well as register their grievances.
'Mission Basundhara' will expedite the resolution of such cases, excluding those with objections, CM Sarma said.
