Breaking: 4 More COVID-19 Cases Detected in Assam, Toll Rises to 5

Dispur, April 1, 2020:

It has just been revealed by Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma that 4 new cases of the COVID-19 have been detected in Assam, raising the overall toll in the state to 5. The latest cases have been reported one day after the State reported its first case of the virus in Silchar, a middle-aged businessman who had recently been to New Delhi's Nizamuddin, where a Tablighi Jamaat gathering took place in March last.

The latest 4 cases have been detected at the GMCH in Guwahati. The names of the COVID-19 positive cases, as reported by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are as follows:

Mohammad Arshad Ali Nalbari (19 years)

Mohammad Hazrat Ali, Jagiroad (60 years)

Mohammad Nuruddin, Jagiroad (55 years)

Mohammad Junab Ali, Jagiroad (46 years)

They are reportedly the participants of a religious function in Delhi's Nizamuddin locality, where several cases have been reported. This was said by the Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a press conference in Guwahati. "1 in Karimganj and 4 new cases have been reported from the GMCH. By evening, there will be more cases. It is almost sure that the increase will be there" Biswa Sarma told the press here earlier today. "If people have come across these 5, we request you to come forward and report to the nearest medical centre", Biswa Sarma added.

Adding that more cases are also being screened at Jorhat, Biswa Sarma said that the ones who have tested positive so far, are now in a "stable" state. "If people have come across these 5, we request you to come forward and report to the nearest medical centre", the Health Minister said.

Cases of the new strand of coronavirus or COVID-19 continue to skyrocket across the globe at an unprecedented rate. 862,573 cases have been reported across the globe, with huge number of those-- 188,592 -- reported in the United States. 105,792 cases have been reported in the European nation, Italy, where 12,428 people have reportedly died from complications related to the COVID-19. In India, 1,590 cases have been reported, and the death toll has risen to 45.
