Guwahati: In a bizarre turn of events, microblogging site Twitter has suspended the account of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) General Secretary Jagdish Bhuyan, apparently without any reason.
According to sources, the senior AJP leader's account has been suspended without any prior notification.
This unexpected move has miffed the AJP workers who are now urging the company to restore the leader's account at this crucial time ahead of the 3-phase election in the state.
"No unlawful or unsocial posts were ever made. I believe a wrong decision has been made. Twitter should rectify and open the account," said an AJP worker.
Bhuyan, who served two terms as an MLA of the Assam Legislative Assembly from the Sadiya legislative assembly constituency in Tinsukia district, and as tourism minister in the Prafulla Kumar Mahanta government from 1998 to 2001, will be contesting from Sadiya on an AJP ticket this time around.
Sadiya shall head to the polling booths in the first phase of the polling on March 27 next.
