KOKRAJHAR: A convoy vehicle of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) President and Goybari candidate Promod Boro was on December 9 attacked in Baokhungri Constituency under Kokrajhar district of Assam. One of the vehicles of the convoy was damaged by attackers who pelted it with stones.
Photos of the vandalized vehicle have reached Inside Northeast. In these photos, shards of glass (presumably from a shattered windscreen) can be seen in the front seat of the vehicle.
The incident reportedly happened around 20 kilometres away from Kokrajhar town.

"We have heard that Boro himself was in the vehicle when it was attacked. However, that information is yet to be verifled. What we have gleaned from all this is that the vehicle belonged to Boro's convoy and was attacked on the street by unknown miscreants. According to initial reports, miscreants threw large rocks at the vehicle which caused the glass to break," a source informed Inside Northeast.
This apparent attack on the UPPL party's vehicle comes a day ahead of the second and last round of polling in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
Eyewitnesses have said that a group of 20-25 miscreants were lying in wait for the convoy and pelted stones as soon as it came near.
It may be mentioned that the Gauhati High Court had earlier directed the State Election Commission (SEC) to release an election notification with regard to the BTC elections and declare the poll date by November 20, 2020.
