BREAKING: Sarbananda Sonowal is Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and AYUSH

NEW DELHI: Former Assam chief minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sarbananda Sonowal is now the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and AYUSH.

Meanwhile, Smriti Irani will get Women’s Development Welfare Ministry.

Piyush Goyal will keep Commerce; he will also hold Consumer and Food Welfare and Textiles.

Bhupendra Yadav will get Labour Ministry and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Kiren Rijiju will get consolidated charge of the Culture Ministry, the Northeast and the tourism department

Purshottam Rupala will get the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

Meenakshi Lekhi becomes Ministry of State in External Affairs and Culture Ministry.

Anurag Singh Thakur gets Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Giriraj Singh has been given the Ministry of Rural Development.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will monitor Ministry of Science and Technology, while Amit Shah will monitor Ministry of Cooperation, in addition to the Home Ministry.

Dharmendra Pradhan will get ministries of Education and Skill Development.

Ashwini Vaishnaw will get the ministries of Railways and IT and Communication.

Hardeep Singh Puri will get ministries of Urban Development, Housing and Petroleum.

Jyotiraditya Scindia will get the ministry of Civil Aviation.

Pashupati Paras will get the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

As many as 43 leaders took oath on Wednesday as ministers in the revamped Union Cabinet. This was the first cabinet reshuffle in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term.
