Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested a suspected smuggler of raw opium in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district on Tuesday night.
BSF had conducted a special operation in the area of responsibility of Guwahati Frontier and apprehended the person, along with 700 grams of opium, from State Highway No.12 from Nayarhat to Ichhaganj.
A motorbike, Hero Super Splendor bearing registration number WB 86 9151, was also seized. The suspected smuggler has been identified as Pradipkumar Barman (43).

The apprehended, along with seized raw opium and Hero Honda Splendor, has been handed over to Mekhliganj Police Station for further legal action.
An FIR has also been lodged at the Mekhliganj Police Station, Cooch Behar under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
